【摘要】:Thispracticecoverstherequirementsforthecommercialpreservation,packaging,packing(exteriorcontainer),unitization,andmarkingforsuppliesandequipment.Itprovidesformultiplehandlingandshipmentbyanymode,andstorageperiodsofaminimumofoneyearinenclosedfacilitieswithoutdamagetotheproduct.Italsoprovidesforpackagequantitiessuitableforredistributionwithoutadditionalrepackagingormarking.Plannedstoragethatexceedsoneyearrequiresmorethanminimumrequirementsforphysicalandmechanicalprotection.ThispracticeisapplicabletoDepartmentofDefenseshipmentsfor:Itemsintendedforimmediateuse;Itemsfornot-mission-capablesupply;Itemsintendedfordepotoperationalconsumption;Smallparcelshipments(CONUS),not-for-stock;andDirectvendordeliveries(CONUSONLY).AllotherDepartmentofDefenseshipmentsshallbeinaccordancewithMIL-STD-2073x2013;1.1.1Thispracticeestablishesminimumrequirementsforpackagingofsuppliesandequipment,exclusiveofammunition,explosives,orhazardousmaterials,ascoveredinTitle49oftheCodeofFederalRegulations.1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
